Ashadha Masa Begins: July 5, 2027
Ashadha Masa starts on Monday, July 5, 2027, the day after Jyeshtha Amavasya. In Karnataka, Ashadha is traditionally considered a month for devotion and restraint, and many families avoid starting weddings or house-warming ceremonies during it. Customs differ by family and community, so follow your own tradition.
Jagannath Rath Yatra and Chandra Darshana
Rath Yatra falls on Monday, July 5, 2027, on Ashadha Shukla Dwitiya. The Dwitiya tithi runs from 4:51 AM on July 5 to 1:14 AM on July 6. The new moon is crescent-thin on this day, so Chandra Darshana, the first sighting of the Moon after Amavasya, is also marked on July 5.
Devshayani Ekadashi July 2027
Devshayani Ekadashi, also called Shayani or Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi, falls on Wednesday, July 14, 2027. Ekadashi runs from 12:09 PM on July 13 to 1:10 PM on July 14, so the fast is kept on July 14. Ekadashi Parana (breaking the fast) is on the morning of July 15, after sunrise and before Dwadashi ends at 2:40 PM.
Devshayani Ekadashi is traditionally linked with the beginning of Chaturmasya, the four-month period of vrata and devotion to Lord Vishnu.
Guru Pradosh Vrat: July 1 and July 15
Guru Pradosh Vrat is observed on Thursday, July 1, 2027, in Krishna Paksha, when Trayodashi begins at 6:15 PM, just before sunset. The second Guru Pradosh falls on Thursday, July 15, 2027, in Shukla Paksha. Pradosh Vrat is traditionally associated with Lord Shiva and the evening Pradosh period after sunset.
Karka Sankranti July 2027
Karka Sankranti is marked on Friday, July 16, 2027. The Sun’s actual entry into Karka (Cancer) happens at about 5:48 AM IST on July 17, before sunrise. For that reason, calendars list the festival and its punya kala on July 16. Karka Sankranti marks the start of Dakshinayana, the Sun’s southward course.
Guru Purnima July 2027
Guru Purnima, also known as Vyasa Pooja and Ashadha Hunnime, falls on Sunday, July 18, 2027. Purnima tithi runs from 6:48 PM on July 17 to 9:14 PM on July 18. The day honours Maharshi Vyasa and one’s teachers and gurus. A penumbral lunar eclipse also occurs on July 18. Because it is penumbral, Sutak is not observed.
Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi July 2027
Gajanana Sankashti Chaturthi is observed on Thursday, July 22, 2027, in devotion to Lord Ganesha. Krishna Chaturthi runs from 4:47 AM on July 22 to 6:56 AM on July 23. The fast is broken after moonrise, which is around 9:17 PM in Bengaluru on July 22.
Kamika Ekadashi July 2027
Kamika Ekadashi falls on Thursday, July 29, 2027, in Krishna Paksha. Ekadashi runs from 7:34 AM on July 29 to 5:13 AM on July 30. Parana is on the morning of Friday, July 30, after sunrise. Some Vaishnava traditions list the fast on July 30, so follow your own mutt or panchanga.
Shani Pradosh Vrat: July 31, 2027
Shani Pradosh Vrat falls on Saturday, July 31, 2027, when Trayodashi runs from 2:18 AM to 10:58 PM and covers the evening Pradosh period.

- Amavasya and Purnima
- Sankashti Chaturthi

Note: Bengaluru sunrise and sunset times for July 2027 are calculated astronomically in IST and rounded to the nearest minute. Tithi and nakshatra are the ones prevailing at local sunrise. Other panchangs may differ by about 1 minute because of rounding and horizon definition. Cities elsewhere in Karnataka differ by several minutes (Mangaluru is about 11 minutes later than Bengaluru).
Amavasya and Purnima July 2027
| Lunar day | Tithi runs | Observed on |

| Ashadha Purnima (Hunnime) | 6:48 PM, July 17 to 9:14 PM, July 18 | Sunday, July 18 |
